Can You Convert a PDF Directly to HWP Here?
This website prepares editable text for a separate Hancom workflow; it does not generate HWP or HWPX files. For a text-based PDF, export an editable DOCX, review it in a compatible Hancom application and save the required native format there. If the publisher can provide the original HWP template, start with that instead: it avoids rebuilding table widths, Korean fonts and form spacing from a fixed-page document.
Which Route Fits Your PDF?
| Source document | Recommended route | Expected manual work |
|---|---|---|
| Selectable Korean text | Export an editable DOCX, then open it in Hancom | Correct spacing, reading order, headings and tables. |
| Scanned Korean pages | Use OCR that supports Korean before editing | Check Hangul and mixed Korean/Latin text. Choose the Korean model in OCR PDF before editing. |
| A form with exact boxes and fields | Request the original native template | Transfer answers into the template and compare every required field. |
| A PDF needed only as a visual reference | Keep the original PDF alongside the editable document | Rebuild only the sections that actually need editing. |
How Do You Prepare an Editable DOCX?
- Open a copy of the PDF and select several Korean sentences. Paste them into a plain-text editor to check characters and reading order. If only a page image is available, obtain suitable Korean OCR or the original document first.
- In PDF to Word, select the PDF and set Word output to Editable text · approximate formatting. The default appearance mode creates page images, whose words are not editable.
- Choose a small representative page range for the first attempt. Text export supports up to 200 selected pages in one operation; work in sections for larger material.
- Download the DOCX and compare a body paragraph, a heading and any table against the PDF. This export recovers text lines rather than the original page design.
- Keep a corrected DOCX copy before saving into another format so that you can return to the reviewed text if the final import needs adjustment.
How Do You Save the DOCX as HWP in Hancom Office?
Hancom Office Word’s official help documents DOCX opening and HWP saving. For that desktop application, use this route:
- Choose File → Open, select the exported DOCX and open it. If the dialog filters it out, select the appropriate Word-document file type.
- Review the imported text in the editor. Set the intended fonts and page size, then repair paragraphs and tables before saving.
- Choose File → Save As. In File Type, select HWP Document (*.hwp), enter a new filename and save.
- Close the saved HWP and reopen it. Confirm that the text is editable and that the application has actually saved the requested format.
These menu labels are from Hancom’s documented desktop workflow; product editions can expose different format choices. If the recipient requires HWPX, use an edition that explicitly offers HWPX export and select that format. Do not rename .hwp or .docx to .hwpx: changing an extension does not rewrite the document format.
What Should You Check in a Korean Form?
For example, a two-page application may contain name and address rows, a narrow date field and a final signature box. Editable PDF extraction can place each line in a paragraph instead of recovering the table. Rebuild the table in the destination editor, copy the reviewed wording into the correct cells and compare the signature area with the reference PDF. Check that a wrapped address has not pushed the signature onto a third page.
| Item | Check after saving |
|---|---|
| Hangul characters and spacing | Look for missing syllables, substituted squares and unexpected spaces inside words. |
| Dates and reference numbers | Compare every digit, hyphen and leading zero with the original. |
| Tables and checkboxes | Confirm cell order, row heights and the meaning of selected options. |
| Fonts and page breaks | Check the intended recipient’s available fonts and inspect the final page count. |
| Required file type | Verify HWP versus HWPX in the save dialog and reopen the actual submitted file. |
Why is the Imported Document Difficult to Edit?
If clicking selects one large picture, the DOCX was probably created in appearance mode or contains scanned pages. Return to the source, obtain usable text and export editable mode. If individual characters are wrong but the page picture looks correct, text encoding or OCR is the likely issue. If the characters are correct and only layout differs, repair the layout in Hancom rather than repeating the same text extraction.
FAQs
Are HWP and HWPX Interchangeable?
They are different file formats. Use the exact type requested by the recipient and supported by the receiving application.
Will an Editable DOCX Preserve the Original Korean Table?
This toolkit’s editable PDF export does not reconstruct the original table grid or fonts. Rebuild and review tables in the destination editor; use the original template when its layout is required.
Can This OCR Recognize a Korean Scan Reliably?
This toolkit includes a Korean OCR model. Export a searchable PDF or text, then compare Hangul, mixed Latin characters and spacing with the scan before transferring the text into Hancom. Recognition can contain errors; check the result rather than assuming that every character is correct.
Should I Translate Korean Text Before Converting It?
Only if the task also requires a language change. Converting the file format and translating the wording are separate operations; follow the translation guide when both are needed.
